Weight Loss: Seven breakfast smoothies for weight loss.

As part of my morning routine making a 2 minute smoothie is a no brainer for me, no sugar laden cereal, or white bread with its simple carbohydrates that by the time I get to work have been processed by the liver and gone to the fat store.

These are some of the smoothies that I make and enjoy, these are not shop bought processed liquids full of hidden sugars, additives and preservatives.

Simple yet nutritious given me a slow release of energy through the morning.  Here are just 7 of the smoothies that I make.

1) Banana and ginger.

The banana gives a slow release of energy through the morning, ginger has a long history of use for relieving digestive problems such as nausea, loss of appetite, motion sickness and pain.  The natural yoghurt as well as being an excellent source of protein is a probiotic helping heal the gut.

1 medium banana

1 teaspoon fresh ground ginger

6 oz of natural yoghurt

1 teaspoon raw honey.

2) Green tea, mixed berries and banana.  The green tea is an excellent antioxidant and boost digestion, berries are the best form of fruit to eat and as we know bananas are great source of energy as well as potassium.  I make the green tea the night before and allow it to cool over night the tea I use is  Green tea pearls

3oz green tea

3oz natural yoghurt

1 cup of frozen mixed berries

1/2 a banana

3) Berries and spinach, I use frozen berries and frozen spinach it is far more economical to use them this way, often using frozen is actually more beneficial than fresh(unless you are picking them from your garden as you use them) frozen are picked and frozen straight away these days which locks in the nutrients there and then.

1 cup frozen mixed berries

2 blocks frozen spinach

1/2 a banana

6oz almond or coconut milk.

4) Strawberry and banana, not many smoothies beat this one.

1 cup natural yoghurt

1/2 banana

6 frozen strawberries.

5) Banana and blueberries, blueberries are touted as a super food, I do not buy into all these super foods but they are an excellent source of vitamins and nutrients.

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1/2 banana

1 teaspoon raw honey

6oz almond or coconut milk

6) Berry good smoothie, this is an excellent smoothie to give you energy before a workout.

2 cups frozen mixed berries

1 cup natural yoghurt

1 teaspoon raw honey

7) Green smoothie, you can substitute the banana for half an avocado this adds an excellent source of healthy fats to the shake and makes a super smooth and creamy smoothie.

2 blocks frozen spinach

1/2 a banana

1/2 of an apple cored

1 cup almond or coconut milk (unsweetened)

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

For all my smoothies I use the blender below which comes with its own bottles at a fraction of the cost of others.
