Self-sabotage books that don’t treat you like an idiot.
Built from 45 years inside the problem.
Not a programme. Not a 12-step. Not a wellness subscription. These self-sabotage books and operator frameworks were built from 45 years of lived experience, army service, and the kind of transformation that doesn’t come from borrowed theory.
- You’re doing all the right things and still running the same loops
- You’ve tried willpower. It works until it doesn’t.
- Every system you’ve tried was built for someone else’s problem
- You know the answer isn’t another drug, another programme, or another person telling you to be more positive

I Know What To Do, So Why Don’t I Do It? is a free seven-day diagnostic for the person who knows the drink costs them tomorrow, knows the scrolling wrecks their sleep, and does it anyway. Knowing lives in one part of the system. Behaviour comes from another. This guide shows you where to interrupt it.

The Sovereign Operator Bundle
Everything in one place. Food, sleep, movement, and mind, all four simultaneously, the way they were always meant to work.
Work through the system and it doesn’t move the needle, get in touch. This isn’t a corporation. It’s a bloke who built something that works and stands behind it.
Under Load
Why human beings keep doing the things that are destroying them, and how to take back the controls. Seven parts. Thirty-four chapters. The complete Emotional Observation Method (EOM), the framework Ian Callaghan created. Booze, gambling, food, screens, self-sabotage. Same mechanism. Same fix.
Nobody Taught You This
A real food cookbook for people who are sick of beige packet crap, fake health food, and not knowing what to do when they open the fridge. Forty-plus years in kitchens. Zero tolerance for bullshit.
What is the Emotional Observation Method (EOM)?
The Emotional Observation Method, or EOM, is a physiology-first framework for changing self-destructive behaviour, created by Ian Callaghan. Its central claim is simple: your physiology sets your emotional tone, your tone decides what you are able to observe, and observation, not willpower, is where behaviour actually changes.
Physiology before psychology
You cannot think your way out of a dysregulated state. Fix the engine first, then the thinking has somewhere to stand.
Observation before choice
You cannot change a loop you cannot see. EOM trains the observation that opens the gap where real choice becomes possible.
Identity last, not first
Most methods start by telling you who to become. EOM ends there. Identity is the output of repeated behaviour, not the entry point.
EOM was created and named by Ian Callaghan. Its machine and mechanic language, the brain as a server stack, the hard reset, load-bearing capacity, and the Operator at the controls, comes directly from his 25 years as a Technical Architect building IT infrastructure. The framework sits at the centre of his book Under Load and the Emotional Mastery operator manual, and it underpins every product on this page.
Core Protocols
All self-sabotage books and frameworks on this page are sold exclusively here. No Amazon. No middleman. Direct from the person who wrote them.
Under Load
The complete Emotional Observation Method (EOM), the physiology-first framework Ian Callaghan created. Every destructive loop you run has the same mechanism underneath it. This is the manual that maps it and shows you the exit.
Self-Destructive Behaviour Workbook
Reset The Machine: the 209-page, 30-day diagnostic log built as the companion to Under Load. It works on the state, not the story. You track the four error codes (anxiety, anger, numbness, craving) underneath whatever the machine is running, until the pattern is undeniable.
Metabolic Sovereignty
Silence the food noise, steady your energy, stop getting played by industrial food. 90 chef-grade recipes and AI culinary support included.
Emotional Mastery: EOM
The operator manual for the Emotional Observation Method (EOM), the framework created by Ian Callaghan. The precursor to Under Load. Start here if you want the framework before the full book.
Nobody Taught You This
Real food, proper cooking, and no-bullshit guidance for people who want to eat like a human without faffing about.
The 30-Day Reset
Military-grade protocol for Eat, Sleep, Move, and Mind running simultaneously. The foundation that everything else sits on top of.
Truth About Fasting
A technical guide to autophagy and biological restoration without the wellness industry nonsense layered on top of it.
I Know What To Do, So Why Don’t I Do It?
You understand the problem at 9am. Then you watch the old loop win at 6pm. That gap between knowing and doing is not a willpower problem, it is a state problem, and you cannot think your way out of a state problem. This free seven-day field guide shows you the loop before it drags you through the whole thing again.
Two short checks a day. Seven days. One clean interruption that proves the machine can be operated differently. No labels, no meetings, no recovery theatre.

What people say
Verified ★★★★★ reviews“I stumbled across Ian on Facebook after signing up for Dry January with no intention of continuing. If I just give myself one month off after 40 years of nightly drinking, I’ll be ok won’t I? Clearly not. I recognised myself in so much of what he said. I purchased Emotional Mastery and have never looked back. This book has inspired me to stop my ‘nightly reward’ bottle of wine, currently on over 2 months poison free. Emotionally I feel much more in control. I meditate, I read, I create and I smile much more. I wasn’t sure I would particularly like the authentic me without the alcohol to lean on but I am loving the clarity and honesty Ian’s book has brought into my life.”Caron Caldwell · Verified Purchase · Emotional Mastery EOM
“Consistent with Ian’s posts, incredibly detailed, scientifically accurate and well written. The idea of needing a ‘state change’ in the face of a craving was like a lightbulb moment for me. Tried it with success.”Liz · Verified Purchase · Under Load ★★★★★
“I haven’t finished it yet but I can tell you it is life changing. Don’t buy it if you just want to feel better, it is challenging and painful and is the hardest thing I have ever read. I feel hopeful for the first time in a long time.”Geraldine Chapman · Verified Purchase · Under Load ★★★★★
“The content Ian puts out on his Facebook page, for free, has changed my life. I am deeply grateful.”Anneke · Verified Review ★★★★★
“Emotional Mastery isn’t self-help. It’s deprogramming. Callaghan slices through the BS with surgical precision. Once you see what he shows you, you can’t unsee it. The spell breaks.”Mike Meyer · Verified Purchase · Emotional Mastery ★★★★★
“If you want things sugar coated this book is not for you. If you’re prepared to understand why you keep doing the same shit on a different day, then invest in the time to read this.”Rose · Verified Purchase · Under Load ★★★★
“Best purchase ever. I haven’t even finished it and wished I’d bought it sooner. It makes so much sense in a time of confusion and overwhelm.”Kate Robinson · Verified Purchase · Under Load ★★★★★
Meet the Operator
Ian Callaghan is the creator of the Emotional Observation Method (EOM), the author of nine books, and a British Army veteran. He spent 25 years as a Technical Architect building IT infrastructure, and that systems background is where EOM’s machine language comes from: the brain as a server stack, the hard reset, load-bearing capacity, the Operator at the controls.
He brings 40+ years of food and nutrition experience, backed by professional qualifications and diplomas, alongside training as an NLP Master Practitioner and Reiki Master. He spent 45 years running every destructive loop his books describe. He has been alcohol-free since the winter solstice of 2024, lost over five stone, and reversed pre-diabetes. Built from lived experience, not borrowed theory. (And no, still not the Liverpool footballer.)
